Well we had a devotional last Tuesday it was pretty cool. President Russell M Nelson came. His wife came too. One thing he talked about is if we have Christ engraved in our hearts. He also talked about repentance and some thought that I had about it is that to become perfect we must become perfect at repenting. Repenting isn't easy, but that is how we become closer to Christ who is perfect. He also said that the Savior is not disappointed with anyone who earnestly tries to repent. If we are striving to become closer to Christ and repent then he will be more than happy with us. Now don't think that I hated seeing an apostle or anything when I say this, but all anyone cares about in the whole MTC is seeing an apostle. As we were walking out of the devotional last week I heard this kid say that he bets that if an apostle came and gave the same exact message as the member of the seventy gave that more people would have paid attention. I agree with him 100%. I think what matters is the message that is shared not who is sharing it. I will be honest that my favorite talk I have heard so far was not either of the apostles. My favorite talk was from Lynn G Robbins who is in the presidency of the seventy. I mean seeing apostles if great and all, but I don't think that is what we should be focusing on. Just a little PP (Pet Peeve) I have about the people at the MTC.
We read about the army of Helaman this week and about their mothers. I am so thankful for the huge role they have in the lives of people everywhere and all that they teach us. In Alma 56:48 it says "We doubt not for our mother knew it." I know my mom know everything she taught me is true and also that the gospel is true so I know it is true. My mom has taught me so much and she is great. She taught me many things that I use in my life everyday, except for the swear words she would say sometimes. I never use those don't worry. Well I hope my mom appreciates me giving her a shout out two weeks in a row because it probably won't happen again. Mother's really are the best and be sure to thank them for all that they do!
We got to teach a member and he was from Chile. We didn't really teach and I feel like he taught us more. He told us about how lucky we are to live here in Utah and to have had the gospel our whole lives. How much better our lives are here in the US than in other countries. How often do we take that for granted? We have so much better lives than those foreign countries. Then how lucky we are to live in Utah where we are surrounded by other people of our faith. How often do we take that for granted? We have friends without even trying just because they are LDS. he also told us how blessed we are to be born in the gospel. How often do we take the gospel for granted? We have gone to church almost every week since we were little, but do we really understand how important it is. I know I didn't even begin to understand how important it is u til a few years ago. I still don't completely understand how important it is either and do you guys. I would be surprised if you could all say yes. We are so blessed and yet we still complain that we don't have enough when we don't even realize how much we actually have. Well yeah I am done now.
So me and my companion and another companionship go and lift weights almost everyday. Before we can start we have to say a prayer. So my companion offers to say the prayer. He is going along saying great things and then he says please bless that we can fine tune our bodies. After he said this I started laughing so hard and I had to hold it in. I mean I was very okay with him saying that, but I could not take it seriously. That night I asked him if he thought my body was fine tuned. Of course he said yes.
We got our flight plans! It was happiest day ever! It was basically like Christmas. The only thing is is that basically everyone leaves on Monday except me and two other missionaries. Then the two other missionaries leave Tuesday so I will be here all alone for all of Tuesday because they leave at like 2 in the morning. I get to leave at 2:30 in the morning so happy day. I never thought that this would happen but now it is happening! I can't wait and I honestly have no idea what to expect at all! It should be good though!
Well if anyone has time or even cares about Jesus at all go read Isaiah 53 or Mosiah 14 or both! It is amazing and talks about the atonement beautifully. Well tell someone you love them today!
