What a week! So last week we did this thing that I think is funny and also a little bit racist, but you got to find those investigators however you can! So what we did was go to the library and get on google maps. Then we would look for places that looked a little more run down and closer together. Then we would type the address in the white pages to see who was living there and around them. Then we would look for people with hispanic last names and write down their addresses so that we could go visit them! At one point this guy came up and asked us what we were doing and I felt so awkward. It was funny though.
Then we also had this crazy thing happen. I am now in a trio! Yayy!! It is actually way fun. So my district leader, Elder Galvan's companion had to get emergency transfered. Elder Galvan is way sick. He is 27 years old!!! He could basically be my father. He goes home in three weeks so he won't be with us long, but so far I have learned a lot from him. He is a native from Mexico. We also moved into his apartment because it is a lot nicer than ours was. It is pretty crowded right now though. So please don't send any mail to the address I sent last week. I probably won't receive it. If you did send me a letter I greatly appreciate it! You guys are the best and if you didn't it is all good too. You are still my favorite!
I hope you all had a great thanksgiving! We had two dinners and a lunch. It was honestly too much food. I am going to get so fat out here. Our second dinner was so nice. These people are basically loaded. They have the nicest house that I have ever seen. The mom works for the FBI and the dad is a consultant and they roll in the dough. The mom was honestly the best person that I have met! She is happy and she made me feel so comfortable. I was honestly having a pretty rough Thanksgiving and then we went to her house and man it was a party. I may have seen some football games too... The food was right next to the television and sometimes lets just say that it took me extra long to get my food. We also had a ward thanksgiving party! It was way fun and the Hispanics go way hard with food! The food here is way quality though. I love it probably a little too much. At one of the dinners though we had tacos. It was different from what I usually expected, but it was fun.
One thing that I was not expecting about being here was knocking so many doors. We go all the time to trailer parks or apartments. Hispanics are some of the nicest people that I have ever met though. They are so receptive and let us in a lot more than I was expecting. There are some pretty strange people though. I am also surprised how diverse it is here. People would tell me it was going to be diverse, but I didn't expect this diverse. It is honestly fairly rare to see white people. They are definitely in the minority here.
So I have been reading this book and there was something that stood out to me. Every person and moment in our life happens for a reason. There were two questions that were asked in the book. What is the divine purpose of this moment, this event, this relationship, or this person coming into my life? What am I to learn from these interactions, from this persons entry or exit on this stage of my life? God and Jesus Christ really are in the minute details of our lives so pay attention, everything happens for a reason. What can we learn and how can we apply that. I hope you all have a great week.
Love Davis
