So to start off I got to go to the Hospital this week! So Elder Shaker from our district has appendicitis. Which apparently hurts a lot and makes it so you can't do much. So I got to go with him to his surgery! It was so weird to see the outside world and what it is like. I got to hang out with him while he was getting prepped and everything. We played some pictionary while we were waiting and it was way fun! His surgery was pretty short. After it finished I went up to see how he was doing. He looked really pale, but other than that he seemed really good. His brothers were with him and his mom was flying up from Arizona to see him because he was going to have to stay the night in the hospital. So I had to call the shuttle and ride back to the MTC all alone... It was so weird. I sat and waited all alone and rode in the car all alone. I was basically all alone. Other than that though everyone is dying. This other missionary in our district had this horrible cough and then he got pink eye in both eyes. He looked and kind of sounded like a zombie. So him and appendicitis boy hung out in the room for a few days. The other two missionaries in their room slept in our room for a few days beacuse they didn't want to get sick. It was fun to have them with us. Then this other guy in our zone was throwing up for a few days and then after he got better he got pink eye and now he is at the hospital get checked to see if he has appendicits too. I feel really bad for him. He has basically been hating life lately. Hopefully I don't get sick again though because it just straight up sucks.
Spanish is going good. We taught our one investigator and she had a dream where she looked up to the sky and the clouds spelled out si in the sky. It was so funny. It was when she asked if the church was true haha. There is the Sister missionary in our district who has been flirting with one of the other missionaries in our district and it is so funny. The other day our teacher took the Elder out and told him that she was flirting with him and that he should kind of ignore her. Now everytime she goes up to him it is so awkward and we give him so much crap for it, it is so funny. Also basically me and my companion are like companionship goals. Like in the missionary way, not the other way... Our district leader asked how we get along so well and we told him how and he wrote them up on the board so everyone could see. There has been some contention between some companions so it felt good that people think that we are getting along good. I get to see and talk to Harrison all the time and it is so nice. That way I can vent to him about how much I "love" the MTC. He gives me really good advice so I am really thankful for him. I got to sit next to him during all of choir and the devotional on Sunday and it was amazing!
So for the devotional on Sunday Elder Bednar came and I will say I was honestly kind of dissapointed. He talked about how we can better study conference talks. I was hoping he would teach us some amazing doctorine instead of just go through conference the whole time and giving us examples. He said that you should study conference talks in depth. What he said was to read it and look for all the doctorine and then read it again and look for the invitations and then read it again and look for the blessings or promises. So I decided I would try it out. I read the talk "Fourth Floor, Last Door" by president uchtdorf. It was way awesome!!! One example I found was this. The doctorine that I found from the talk is,"There are more ways to see than with our eyes, more ways to feel then with our hands, more ways to hear than with our ears." I though huh? I never thought about that. Then the invitation that went along with it was,"Seek the spirit that speaks to our spirit and not just our ears." So I have been trying to not just listen with my ears, but with my heart and spirit also. Then the blessing/promise that I found was,"We can be certain answers will come and we may be confident that we will not only be content with the answers, but we will also be overwhelmed by the grace, mercy, generosity, and love of our Heavenly Father for us." I know that when we try to listen differently we will find answers that we would not have if we would have just been listening with our ears. I challenge you all to go through a conference talk this week and see what you can find and then share what you find with someone! I would love if you would share it with me too! I miss you guys a ton! Hope everything is going good!
Con amor
Davis
