Hello my friends and family. Yesterday I talked to my Familia and my mom told me I had to write a really good email this week to you guys so here I go! So this week we were at this apartment complex just doing missionary work, which basically means talking to people. I was at the park with my companion talking to this guy. His son was behind us with his water gun spraying some kids on the playground. I was just minding my own business talking to this guy when the kid comes from behind me and aims the water gun at me. Next thing I know he has sprayed me like 6 times. This isn't your average water gun either. This was one of those super soakers. It worked pretty good too! So I was soaked and the dad dumped all the water out of the gun. The kid took off running and next thing I knew he was coming back with a gun reloaded with water. Luckily the dad took the gun away from him. It was great though.
So last night we had a really cool experience. We have been working with this couple named Jose and Reina. Reina is super accepting and loves everything about the message we share. José on the other hand not very much. So last night we asked Reina if she had read the past week, she is on page 200 by the way which is the most that anyone has ever read that I have taught without being a member, and she said yes. We had sent her a message during the week stressing the importance of reading even if it was for just 10 or 15 minutes. She was super last week even to the point that she couldn't come to church. She told us about how the night we sent her the message she said a prayer after finishing reading and just laid down in bed thinking about the book and stuff. She then decided to just open the book and when she did she read Alma 36:1. It says this, "My son, give ear to my words; for I swear unto you, that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall prosper in the land." She then told us about how this was an answer to her prayer and that she needed to listen to the words in the book and the things we were sharing and keep his commandments. It was truly awesome. José isn't prepared like her... It's a work in progress.
So yeah it was a pretty great week. I will be moving on to another area after 5 transfers here. It has been fun and I am sad to leave. We have a lot of cool people we are teaching here. I hope you all had a great mother's day because mine was great! Have a good week and enjoy the pictures!!!
