Semana 15ish... Week 31 - Monday, May 8, 2017

Hello everyone. Hope all is good with you all. This week I have seen a huge difference in things. I don't know why, but there were a lot of things different. I learned about myself a lot and a little bit about missionary work too! Right now we have some pretty cool investigators that come from many different backgrounds and are in very different situations. It is interesting to see the difference in life in people and just in a different part of the country. Things are way different here than in Utah. I like it sometimes and it also makes me feel a little uncomfortable too. I will just say that I love the Hispanic food probably too much. I haven't eaten anything yet that I haven't liked. Hopefully it will stay that way! I am going to miss the Hispanic food, it is way better than our American food!

So something really cool this week was something that happened yesterday or basically all of yesterday! I will just give you the highlights. So we went to check on this reference from some other missionaries and the guy wasn't there. Usually how it goes, but you always try. So there were some potential people that lived close to them so we went to check them out. The first one we knocked this man answered, but he wasn't the guy we were looking for. He then asked us if we were Mormons and we said yes! So it turns out that he is actually a Mormon and was baptized in Peru when he was 8, but when he moved here he stopped going. He let us in and we shared a little message about the book of Mormon. He didn't remember a whole lot, but he is really willing to learn again. We were talking to him a little more and it turns out that about an hour before we came he had looked for something about Joseph Smith on YouTube and he watched the Joseph Smith movie. It was so cool! Me and my companion had been talking the whole week how there aren't miracles, but this kind of seems like one. I guess I need to be more of an optimist! It was way awesome though and we are going to go back tonight!

So I would just like to say that I am learning a lot out here, but that is a choice. I think for a while I was kind of fighting it, but now I have figured it out hopefully. We will always learn more when we are taught by the Holy Ghost and sometimes that is hard especially for me because I feel like I can do a lot on my own, but I obviously can't. You need both though, the effort form your part and the willingness to be taught by someone who knows more than you. That is the hardest thing especially for me, but I know that my spanish improved a ton more when I was willing to be corrected and also learned a lot more when I am willing to ask others for help including Heavenly Father. Hopefully you all tell your mom's that you love them this weekend because I know I sure love mine! You are all awesome!
