January 25? Sister? Birthday? Hmmmm.. - Week 16 - Monday, January 23, 2017

Hello all of my favorite people! This week has been wet wet wet! Basically it has rained everyday and the days it didn't rain it was misting. If that makes sense. It basically felt like when you get sprayed by those mister thingies all the time. I would say it was fun, but I don't know many people that like to be wet all the time.

Last week we were teaching the first lesson to a Less Active. It was great! She is from Argentina and has a funky accent. You just have to hear it, it is different from most other places. We were also teaching a member family too because it was at a family night. It was really great! Then mom of the member family started crying almost! It was so crazy! After she told us how it was so beautiful and she could really feel that it was true. It was very cool. The first lesson is really amazing! There is a scripture in D&C 135 that I really love. It is verse 3, but it is very long so I will on share the beginning of it. It says," Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it." Joseph Smith truly is an amazing man. I invite you all if you have time to invite the missionaries over to share the first lesson. Or invite them to dinner too, I am sure they would love that.

This week I have been thinking a lot. I know that when I say that I worry my mom because she says I think too much. I just look at it as pondering. Aren't we all supposed to do that. I have been thinking about my job as a missionary a lot this week. There has been a saying in my mission lately that I really love. The saying is this,"We are not teachers, we are guides." A missionaries job isn't to go and just spit a bunch of information at people. The job is to help people feel the spirit. The missionaries don't convert or baptize anyone. That is what the spirit or the holy ghost does. So my job is to help people feel the spirit and provide ways that they can do so.

This is very applicable to everyone though! Don't worry I don't want to just spit my random thoughts at you all. This teaches me that we become converted when we feel the spirit and then act. Our job as humans or children of God is to try to feel the spirit as much as we can during the course of our life. We need to know what the spirit feels and sounds like to us. We need to act on the those feelings and thoughts also. We have been teaching this family and they are the perfect example of this. They read the Book of Mormon together as a family every night. The mom carries her Book of Mormon with her everywhere. She reads at every chance she gets and when she reads something that she doesn't understand she reads it over again. They pray as a family and individually everyday! This family is amazing! I just think that this family does more than my family did and we have been members our whole lives! Sorry family you know it is true unless you changed since I left. So yeah! Try and feel the spirit at all times in your life! Be aware to the spirit and then act on what you feel. What you feel will always be more important than what you hear.

You are all awesome! I also really do miss you! Sometimes I think about it and I feel like two years is sooooooooooooooooooooo long. Then I think about how much I have learned and how much I have grown and it makes two years only seem soooooooooo long. Yeah it is great! I hope you are all doing good and living wonderfully happy lives!

Love you all!

Davis

PS. My sisters birthday is this Wednesday.
