Man, well now almost all of my best friends are home from their missions. Good for them right? While they were both speaking yesterday in sacrament I also got the opportunity to speak! In it I told a story that I actually stole from another talk, but it is so good I want to share it again. So in 1858 there was this daredevil guy who was standing at Niagara falls. He looked at the waterfall and said to his manager that he was going to cross it on a tight rope. His manager was like okay. So they started advertising it and inviting a lot of people. They had to go and make their own special rope because there wasn't anything like that back then. So a year later it was finally the day of the event. Ten thousand people came on the American side and ten thousand on the Canadian side. He got up there and started walking to the Canadian side. After walking downhill on this rope for 22 minutes he made it to the other side! Everyone was cheering and stuff so he turned around and started walking uphill towards the American side. After 25 minutes he made it. Everyone was cheering and yelling that this guy was amazing. He then went on to say, "You guys came to see a show! Bring me the wheelbarrow!" So his manager came over with a wheelbarrow. They picked up and placed it by the rope. The man then asked, "How many of you believe that I can cross again with this wheelbarrow!?" They all shouted that they believed. The man then responded, " I am so glad they you believe, because I just need one volunteer!" Then the crowd went silent. Then the man asks this great question and he said," What's wrong? I thought you said that you believe?"
Often times we say we believe things, but when that belief is put to the test that is when we falter. Maybe that is an extreme example, but I still feel like it is very true. Hopefully we can all be more firm in what we believe and be true disciples of Jesus Christ. We represent him and his kingdom on the earth.
