Well another week has come and gone. This week went super fast and way slow at the same time. A lot happened this week, but I will keep it short and sweet still. It has gotten super hot here. The people keep saying that it isn't even close to how hot it gets either. I am a little nervous because it has been brutal. I also have a pretty sick collar line on my neck. I am very proud of that. We had the charla fogonera last night and it was awesome. It is basically where a bunch of recent converts or less active that come back to church speak about their experiences. It is always way fun because most of the missionaries from the Spanish program are there too. It was fun to see everyone. It is also the end of the transfer and these past two transfers have been so fun with elder nield. I am sad to see him go, but I am also excited about getting my new companion.
Alright so now onto the baptism. So we got there and filled up the font. Elder field baptized him. It was so awesome. So his brother and law who is 14 gave the talk on baptism and then he went in and got baptized. Then after his father in law gave a talk about the holy ghost and stuff. Then his mom came down from Maryland to come see it and she isn't a member. She then asked if she could say something. She got up and basically just thanked us all. It was way cool. Then Kevin went up to bear his testimony and stuff. He was like full on crying. It was way cool because I have never seen him cry before and I didn't think he would. He told us that on his drive over to the church he just thought about everything bad he has done and he has told us about his past and I was a little surprised, but he said after he was baptized he just felt like it was all gone. It was way good! Then his mom said that she wants to come back to the church to see everyone and stuff. Apparently when Kevin was little he would hear the discussions from the missionaries. It was a way cool day.
So this week I was reading in the new testament and I read a scripture that I thought was so cool! At least for me as a missionary. The scripture is Matthew 19:29. It says," and all the things that you have left, brothers or sisters or fathers or mothers or wives or kids or lands for my name will receive 100 times more and will find eternal life." I thought about it and I realized that I left my brother, sister, mom, dad and my land or where I live. I didn't leave a wife or kids though. I thought about it and realized I did that to follow Christ. I am just doing what he wants to be here, but am I taking the next step and trying to be like him? I thought about this and I realized I have so much more to work for. I am so grateful that I can be here to try and become more like Christ.
You guys are awesome and I love you guys! Thanks for all you do! Hope you guys enjoy your summer!
