Ummmm.. hola? - Week 18 - Monday, February 6, 2017

Well in three days I am finally done being trained! You all have no idea how good it feels.. I have learned so much over these past three months or 12 weeks? I think those are the same thing. Some of the biggest things that I have learned are not just missionary things though, they are more of things that should be applied to life. I am now a professional barber in case anyone was wondering. I cut my district leader's hair and it looks fine.. So when I get home I will be opening up my own personal salon. Can guy's have their own salon or is that discouraged? Just know that you can save a ton of money cutting your own hair and if you need anyone to do that you know who to call. I also have learned a lot more about the most important things in life. That is really what missionaries are all about. They are trying to help people see the most important things in life because what the world says is the most important and what the Christ says are very different.

Well I am not moving areas, but I am getting a new companion! I will miss Elder Porter though. I have learned so much from him and he is a great missionary. He really has helped me a lot and I don't think I could have changed this much without him helping me along. He also showed me how to properly "bible bash" this past week. He didn't bible bash this guy we were trying to teach was just trying to be difficult. The lesson was going great and this guy seemed really interested. Well he was really interested but more interested in trying to say we were wrong! He asked us if we teach and do things the same way as Peter did and we said yes. Then he asked us in who's name we baptize and we told him. Then he told us that isn't the same. He then had us open up to Acts 2:38 and it says that Peter baptized just in the name of Jesus Christ. We tried to explain to him that Jesus told us to do it in the name of the Father, the son and the Holy Ghost. We are just doing it how Jesus said. He just wanted to argue though. We left and surprisingly didn't get a return appointment. Elder Porter was, well lets just say a little frustrated. It was great.

I have been thinking a lot about why we are here and alive on this Earth. Yes we are supposed to be tried and learn and all that stuff, but what exactly are we supposed to learn? Well in my missionary professional opinion which obviously means nothing I think that we are here to learn two things. We are here to learn how to use our agency righteously and how to rely on the Holy Ghost. Don't those two things go hand in hand? If we are relying on the Holy Ghost then we will most likely be using our agency wisely. The more that we listen to the spirit the more our lives will be influenced by God. Shouldn't we all want our lives to be influenced and directed by a God who knows us perfectly and what is best for us perfectly? As we are constantly striving to have the spirit with us our decisions will be influenced by the Holy Ghost or God. Now I wish I could say that I was good at this, but I am most definitely not and that is why I am here, to get better.

Well I love you people of the normal world and a few of my missionary friends. Hope all is going peaceful wherever you may be. I will send some more pictures next week with my nuevo companero. Les quiero!

Davis
